So, we finally did it!  And what a day it was.  I know it's a cliche but I can honestly say that it was, without doubt, the best day of my life and surpassed my (extremely high) expectations in every way.  I still have sore cheeks from smiling so much and a sore jaw from laughing so much.  Here are just a few of the edited highlights:

• Walking out the front door at my mum and dad's house to get in the horse and carriage and feeling like Posh Spice as all the neighbours had come out to see me off
• My brother Nik doing a reading in church and hearing everyone start to giggle as they realised that he was reading out the lyrics to the 80's classic Nothing's Gonna Stop Us Now by Starship
• The speeches - particularly Matt's joke about the tradesman's entrance  - I won't elaborate
•

  Playing roulette at the casino (and losing!)
• Our wedding dance to Bucks Fizz, particularly the bit where we ripped off the trousers and the velcro got stuck so that Matt had to dance with his trousers round his ankles for the rest of the routine!
• Eating fish and chips for tea
• The Rinky Dinks playing in the evening, who were absolutely fantastic.  I defy anyone to hear them play and not be able to dance like they've got ants in their pants - they even covered both our favourite songs (Love Machine by Girls Aloud for me and Gino by Dexys Midnight Runners for Matthew)
• Duncan (Sir Alan) dancing so wildly that he fell into the speakers, dragging Usher Ashley with him along the way, and getting so tangled up that he couldn't get up after

Our wedding took 18 months to plan and it's fair to say that we enjoyed every second of it.  Getting married makes you realise just how fantastic your family and friends are and we are especially lucky!  We will post a proper blog about the day as soon as possible but for now we're off to San Francisco in the morning so we'll catch up again when we're back on 24th July!!
